Frequently Asked
Questions
Maria Veloso - Web Copywriting Specialist
1. What are your
qualifications as a copywriter?
I
started my copywriting career in 1977 when I
worked as an Advertising Copywriter for Pacifica
Publicity Bureau, a subsidiary of the famed
Ogilvy and Mather. Over the past 25 years,
I've covered the full spectrum of
copywriting -- including catalog copy, direct-mail
copy, sales brochures, advertorials, newsletters,
marketing communications and press releases.
My most recent designation was that of Director
of Creative Web Writing for Aesop Marketing
Corporation, a major Internet marketing company
spearheaded by Mark Joyner, where I was involved
not only in writing web copy, but also in market
testing, and in co-writing the Killer Tactics
Journal (which had half a million
subscribers). Because my background is steeped in
scientific marketing, ad tracking and testing, I
have come to know exactly what works and
what doesn't work on the Internet -- and have
developed a unique model of web copywriting
that has been proven to sell on the
Internet.
2. What kinds of copywriting assignments do you
handle?
About 90% of my business is
writing for the Web -- and my forte is
writing web copy that sells. The rest involves
direct-mail copy, advertising copy, press
releases, advertorials, newsletters and feature
articles.
My specialty is my ability to research with
meticulous diligence, finding creative (and
often overlooked) angles, and writing
persuasive and psychologically compelling
copy that elicits an immediate and direct
response from the reader -- that is, compel
them to click, sign up, call, or buy.
Most importantly, my web copy gets
results. One ad that I wrote for Mark Joyner
(CEO of Aesop.com) pulled $18,000 for an e-class
in 2 days, and another piece of web copy that I
wrote for a hair restoration company was awarded
the top Internet award for excellence in marketing
journalism -- and went on to produce tens of
thousands of dollars in profits.
3. Your literature refers to you as a web
copywriting specialist and marketing consultant.
What kind of marketing consultancy do you do?
In addition to writing web copy, I also
work with clients as an online marketing
consultant. Because of my intimate involvement
with Internet marketing since its early days in
1996, I'm uniquely qualified to help clients plan
online marketing campaigns that generate
maximum results at minimal cost. My clients
like the fact that they can choose between paying
me a monthly retainer or a percentage of
profits that are directly attributable to my
marketing efforts.
4. Who are your clients and what do they say
about your copy?
My clients include the Chrysler
Corporation, Knorr Products, Joe Sugarman
(Triggers), Stef Hair Restoration, Magni Design,
the Institute for Life Coach Training, Matthew
Lesko, AC-Sports.com, ZE Catering, Mennen Baby
Products, Gallery of the Unusual (mail order
catalog), Kevis Hair Products, various e-book
authors, and many others.
I am fortunate to have had the privilege
of working with clients who understand the value
of top-caliber copywriting -- most of whom
are leaders in their respective fields. I
have also written web copy on behalf of
professionals who themselves are expert
copywriters (such as Joe Sugarman, Joe Vitale and
Alex Mandossian) -- and I've been privileged to
win their highest praises. Click here to

5. How much does it cost to hire you for a
copywriting project?
Every
web copywriting project is unique, and different
websites require varying amounts of research and
creativity. My typical copywriting fees are
posted in the
Pricing
webpage. If you have a copywriting project that
needs to be done, just tell me what you have in
mind -- and I'll be happy to give you a free
expert evaluation and a firm quote. Simply
send me an e-mail at
[email protected].
(Let me know in your e-mail
if you also need to see a few of my copywriting
samples.)
6.
How long will it take you to write my web copy?
Since my schedule is often packed with
several copywriting projects at any given time, I
will give you an estimated date of completion
(which will depend, of course, on the other
projects that put a demand on my time).
Typically, it takes me 3 to 4 weeks to complete
work on an average website. If you need your copy
completed on a rush basis, just let me know
your deadline, and depending on my copywriting
load, I will let you know if I can meet your
deadline.
7. What happens if I want you to revise the copy?
When I present the initial draft of my
web copy to you, you will have
3 days in which to
review the draft, and communicate any desired
revisions or modifications to me. There will be
no charge for rewriting -- this is included in the
project fee we've agreed to, provided the
rewriting doesn't involve an entire redirection
of the copy (i.e., change of angle, theme or
subject). If the changes you require involve a
redirection, then I will charge you my hourly fee
for the number of hours it takes to complete the
revisions.
8. How do I order copywriting services from you?
Simply
e-mail me at
[email protected].
I will then send you a
2-minute questionnaire that will enable me to
provide you with an exact project fee tailored to
the scope of your project. (Sorry, I
do not accept adult websites or websites that sell
adult paraphernalia.) If I take on the job, I
will ask you to send me your brochure, sales
literature, and any other background information
that will help me write your web copy. A 50%
deposit is required upfront, with the 50% balance
due upon completion of the copywriting project.
